Engaging your staff through Health & Safety
Safety Coaching is a behaviour awareness programme that has been adapted from the UK oil industry for
New Zealand businesses. It aims to change the safety culture of an organisation by raising awareness of taking personal responsibility for safety.
The benefits of safety coaching include:

- enhancing employee relations
- better awareness of staff morale
- clarifying standards
- targeted injury prevention initiatives

Safety Coaching takes a two-tier approach, concentrating both on senior management and health and safety representatives. In the first tier, Safety Coaching is aimed at senior management, training them to be able to lead safety by having open conversations with staff about safety, and making arrangements around personal commitments to safety. It is a process that emphasises safety is a two-way process between management and employees.
The programme aims to develop a sustainable approach for senior management being actively involved in showing their commitment to safety.
Engaging leaders - Health and Safety Culture Gap Analysis
This workshop helps people assess the current level of leadership, engagement, and health and safety by using our Health and Safety Culture Gap Analysis Assessment Tool.
At the end of the workshop participants will have identified steps to build a proactive safety culture.
This is ideal for senior leadership teams, health and safety committees and health and safety reps.
Our model is based on Shell Oil’s Hearts and Minds Programme.
